Esse Quam Videri -Muslim Self Portraits from Bahrain
Muslims living in Bahrain during the months following the March, 2011 uprising share their self portraits, hopes, worries, and passions for life. In doing so honestly, they give us all courage to press through the hard times and find a sense of identity through sharing and art. This exhibit is made up of 24 framed images, artists statement and information panels. Appropriate for gallery and museum exhibitions. Shorter exhibition showings are also available. Check out this project's coverage in Berlin's Cultural Diplomacy News. ![]() Check out the self portraits at www.muslimselfportrait.info ![]() | Take a walk through tour of this exhibition shown in Manamah, Bahrain Walk through at Guilford College. " Guilford College Art Gallery premiered the Bahraini Muslim Self Portrait Exhibition in 2012 and we are grateful to Todd Drake and the participating artists for sharing these poignant images with our students, faculty, staff and members of the wider community. The exhibition raised awareness, encouraged dialogue and helped to build bridges between segments of the community. Todd was especially generous and offered effective related programming targeting different audiences. Visitors’ comments indicated it provided a positive and meaningful experience."
